The chart below shows the movement of investments in four different equity styles (large company growth and value, and small companies) since 2007, which is also representative of many mutual funds that investors own today.  As you can see, they moved up and down simultaneously.  By limiting yourself to buying and holding these types of traditional assets only, you actually take on more risk than you may be aware.
